{mosgoogle}Benjamin Sun over at Motherboards.org has posted a review on the XFX 6600 256MB DDR2 XXX Edition Video Card. I'm not sure about calling a video card XXX. Parents might think twice about buying it for their kids.
The 6600 256MB XXX Edition card is targeted at the mainstream/value market with a price range of $120. At this price, the card should not be compared to the X1900XTX or 7800GTX 512MB, but to other cards in the same price range. Some manufacturers would have you believe that a $10-15 difference in price is a different price class of video card. I don't subscribe to that theory and would hope the reader of my reviews feels the same way.
The first game I fired up on the 6600 was a racing game, MotoGP2 released a few years back for the computer. The game uses Pixel and Vertex Shader 2.0 effects in the rain on the windshield, on the ground, in the sky and other places. The 6600 card was able to play the game at maximum resolution without AA and AF comfortably. That's what I expected. Turning up the AA and AF caused some small slowdowns.
