{mosgoogle}Idiot Proof Setup

Setting up the LinkStation Network Storage Center is very easy for a network storage device. The included setup CD assumes you know nothing, and I do mean nothing, about setting up a network drive. The setup utility walks you step by step though the entire setup process in a matter so simple it's almost demeaning. For example this is what it said for step 1: Plug the LinkStation's power cord into the back of the LinkStation. Then, plug the other end of the power cord into a power outlet.

I won't brother to post the other steps. Let's just say if you can't get the LinkStation up and running following the setup CD, then you have to be the dumbest tech guy to ever live. Buffalo has pretty much made the setup and installation of the LinkStation idiot proof.

The diagram on the above shows how a LinkStation Network Storage Center can be used in a typical home network setup. The LinkStation attaches to the router, switch or hub via an Ethernet cable. You can connect to the LinkStation from any computer on your network with the IP Setup Utility. Two USB 2.0 connectors allow the LinkStation to connect to a USB hard drive for added storage or to backup the backup. The other USB port is used to turn a printer into a network printer. In addition to the built in printer server, the LinkStation can also act as a FTP server so you can remotely access your data from anywhere in the world.
