A LCD TV is pretty much the same to a laptop LCD monitor; they use a liquid crystal display to produce a sharp picture. There are LCD TVs that can double as a computer monitor.
Pros: They may not be as big or as impressive as a plasma or DLP screen but LCD TVs are extremely thin and lightweight with exceptional contrast ratios. They also enjoy a wide viewing angle. Unlike a plasma, LCD TVs do not suffer from phosphor burn-in and have the 60,000 hour lifespan.
Cons: LCD televisions are very expensive. You may find it cheaper to use a computer LCD monitor and a TV tuner card like the ATI HDTV Wonder to watch HDTV on a LCD display. This only works if you're looking for a LCD TV smaller than 24". LCD TVs also have slower response time than plasma or rear-projection TVs, meaning they won't handle motion as well - not a good thing for a TV.
